Body of this washing machine resembles a barrel. Has attached wringer (to wring out laundry) and functional cogs/gears. Spin the cogs then pull the lever back & forth to agitate laundry. When finished washing, pull the plug at the side to empty the water. An antique galvanized steel pail/bucket/pan is included at no extra cost. This was used to empty the used water into from the washer. On the lower front part of the attached wringer, there is an inscription: Dowswell, Lees & Co. This washer is still functional and in good condition for its old age. Great for a museum display or even living history demonstrations. One of the top door hinges is missing a bolt.
Otherwise we found no other functionality issues. Washer measurements: 28.5" width (measured from widest point), 27" depth, 49.5 height (measured from tallest point). Galvanized steel pail/bucket/pan measurements: 23" width (measured across middle), 9" height. It is really hard for us to let this rare, amazing piece of domestic history go, but we have no choice because the room it was displayed in is going to be used for another purpose. Please make sure your vehicle is large enough.
